University student passes by writing 'Jai Shri Ram' instead of answering exam questions

Several students at an Indian university managed to score up to 60 percent on their exam papers without writing the answers. Instead, one student wrote, 'Jai Shri Ram!' while a few others wrote the names of some of India's top cricketers.

However, the question remains: how did they receive up to 60 percent marks?

This has become a topic of both ridicule and criticism.

Such incidents occurred at the state-run Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Uttar Pradesh. The students who wrote these answers were first-year pharmacy course students at the university.

A former student of the university, Divyanshu Singh, conducted investigations under the Right to Information Act. He has written to India's Prime Minister, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the Governor, and the Vice Chancellor of the university, raising the question of how these students, who should have received zero marks for such answers, managed to pass by getting up to 60 percent marks.

The university's investigative committee stated that the examiners had awarded these students 50 percent marks as a reward.

Following the incident, professors Vinay Verma and Manish Gupta were temporarily dismissed.

The university's Vice Chancellor, Vandana Singh, told reporters that in addition to dismissing the two, all teachers have been warned to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
