73 BNP leaders expelled for participating in Upazila elections

BNP has expelled 73 leaders from various levels across the country, including their primary membership and all other positions. The decision was taken due to their participation in the Upazila elections, defying party decisions. On Friday (April 26), BNP's senior joint secretary-general, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, announced the expulsions in separate letters.

The letters stated that "in light of specific allegations of participating in the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections contrary to party decisions, you are hereby expelled from all positions, including primary membership, as per directive."

Among those expelled, 28 were candidates for the chairman positions, 24 for vice-chairman, and 21 for female vice-chairman in the first phase of the upcoming Upazila elections. BNP had issued show-cause notices to these leaders a few days earlier.
